The prognostic value of changes in the plasma cytokine profile of neuroresuscitation patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia: two center observational study

Objectives. This study was performed to find changes in the plasma cytokine profile of neuroresuscitation patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia, and search for prognostic markers effectiveness antibacterial treatment pneumonia. Materials methods. A two-center clinical study, that included 73 aged 19 82 years neurosurgical neurological pathology signs pneumonia (VAP) conducted. On 1st 3rd days antibiotic therapy, samples were taken from patients, which concentration 59 cytokines determined. Retrospectively, divided into groups favorable unfavorable course VAP. Predictors disease identified using statistical methods, ROC analysis, logistic regression. Results. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) most sensitive predictor outcomes VAP patients. In group an VAP, MMP-2 initially increased, but significantly decreased by day, contrast good outcomes. The regression model predicted accuracy 69.2 %. Less significant predictors cytokines: interleukin-1 receptor antagonist, interleukin-6, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, tumor necrosis factor superfamily member 14, osteocalcin, pentraxin, thymic stromal lymphopoietin, element 12 tumour ligand superfamily, interleukin-12.
